Mr. Kentaro Miura, the creator of “Berserk”, passed away on May 6, 2021 due to an acute aortic dissection. I would like to express my utmost respect and gratitude to Mr. Miura for his art work, and I sincerely pray for the repose of his soul.
At 14:48 on May 6, 2021, painter Dr. Kentaro Miura passed away due to acute aortic dissection. He was fifty-four years old.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the readers who loved his works including “Berserk” during his lifetime, and would like to inform you of his passing.

I was afraid to do so, but now I can understand. He was a man who really loved to think of new things. He was not exaggerating, but he loved to talk about the ideas that came to him like a boy. He enjoyed books, movies, and anime on a daily basis, and used them as material for creating manga.
His works are filled with treasures of his favorite things and human relationships that he has seen and heard in his life. She taught me over and over again that “life is a picture. Thank you very much, Ms. Miura.

When I first joined the company, he shook my hand. I still remember how impressed I was that “Berserk” was created by his hands.
After that, I was put in charge of the project. Every time we had a meeting, he would say, “I just had an idea, but…,” and talk about the concept of the story as if we were chatting. All of them were incredibly interesting, and I struggled to keep up with them. I learned that everything we see every day, including movies and news, leads to a picture called “life. I am very sad to have to say goodbye to her, even though she said she would stay active for another 30 years to get all the ideas out of her head. I am proud to have been in charge of this project. A Memoir with the Author of “Fighting Spirit”

I’m feeling quite sentimental right now.
Let me tell you a memory.
When I was in trouble because I didn’t have any staff for my first weekly series, he came to help me.
He was 18 and I was 19.
He was an art student at a certain university and came to me with a sketchbook in his hand after a lecture.
Since I didn’t know his skill level, I showed him my drawing and asked him to make it look like this one.
I was astonished at the result.
It was so out of character for his age.
After a few drawings, I was already intrigued by him.
We were still young, and we stopped to talk about manga.
I asked him to show me his sketchbook, which I had been curious about, and when I opened it, I was even more astonished and got goosebumps.
There was a fairy, a brand, and a swordsman with a big sword. It was the later Puck, Guts.
The thick pencil drawing was overwhelming.
“What the hell is this? I asked.
It’s all in my head. I’d like to draw it after I get stronger.
How long had he been working on it?
Berserk was already there.
Months passed, and I started serializing Hajime no Ippo.
Almost at the same time, Berserk was released.
I had heard some stories about the difficulties.
But I was convinced.
This manga will definitely be a hit.
Kentaro decided that he was stronger than ever and started this series with a full heart.
I was convinced that the world would be as surprised as I was.
And that’s exactly what happened.
It is an outstanding painting and a full-bodied screen.
I have nothing but respect for his energy.
